Probation Violation

Probation Violation

Rabern (municipal court, AL)
I was charged with TOP 3rd in 06/03 and was sentenced in 8/03 to 90 days in jail and it was suspended for 1 year probation and fines of $525. I was in jail for about 60 days leading to the sentencing and was charged for things in the district court so I was not released until 01/04. I then reported to the probation officer and served my year. After that I thought I was off probation but in 09/08 I found out the probation collection companies had changed hands and the new one claims I hadn't paid my fines which were now $2306 and if I didn't pay it they would violate my probation. Now my question is even if they claim I haven't paid anything and even added to the fines can they violation the probation after 3 1/2 years after it was suppost to be over? I have research state criminal codes and it states that a probation extention can take place after a hearing for violation which I still haven't had. :?: :?: :?:

It totally depends on the rules and procedures of your specific probation. If your probation requires that you report in the office, physically, once a week, you have to do this. If your probation requires that you can call in and you haven't done anything wrong, you should be fine. However sometimes POs will violate someone on rumors. I would encourage you to make an appointment with your PO as a check in.

If you violate probation, your PO will send a notice to the courts and have documentation about the issue. Then the court will send out a notice of your court date for your hearing.
